API Pride

Our DC Metro Area Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community welcomes you to API Pride, during WorldPride 2025. Our tapestry of events honors the diverse, rich cultural heritage, achievements, and contributions of the API LGBTQ+ community and strives to spark us with the joy to thrive and create change in the world. This multi week-long series of events will feature panel discussions, cultural performances, film screenings, and social gatherings designed to foster API pride, visibility and unity.

Emphasizing the strength and beauty of the API community's diverse cultural backgrounds and identities. Events bringing together different API subgroups to foster a sense of joy in unity and mutual respect.

Cultural Heritage and Pride

Celebrating the unique cultural traditions and heritage of the API community. Including events like the DC Dragon Boat Festival, Kamehameha Lei Draping, and API Drag Brunch, which showcase traditional and contemporary cultural expressions

Visibility and Representation

Promoting visibility and representation of API LGBTQ+ professionals in politics, arts, and civic service. Our API Government Reception and Screening of Saving Face with Director Alice Wu, highlight influential API figures and their contributions to artistry, diplomacy, and civic engagement.

Community and Connection

Creating opportunities to build meaningful relationships, in community. All are welcome to our socialize, weave networks, and dance at our QTAPI Week API Pride Welcome Reception and the Nightlife Extravaganza.

Advocacy and Empowerment

Fostering advocacy and empowerment within the API LGBTQ+ community. Highlighting QTAPI initiatives such as presentations, showcases, and surveys to understand and address our community's needs

Artistic Expression and Creativity

Celebrating the creativity and talents of API artists and performers at events like the API Cherry Blossom Ensemble & other API choruses performing at WorldPride, and our Nightlife Extravaganza featuring Bollywood and K-pop fusion performances.
